Isaac B. Cameron (born June 15, 1851 in Nairn , Scotland , † October 11, 1930 ) was an American politician ( Republican Party ). He was Treasurer of State of Ohio from 1900 to 1904 .

Career

Isaac B. Cameron was born in the Scottish Council Area Highland during the reign of Victoria . In the following years, the Cameron family immigrated to the United States . His father died in his childhood. His mother then settled with the rest of the family on a farm near Salineville in Jefferson County, Ohio. In 1855 the family moved to Salineville. Cameron attended public schools and graduated from Iron City Business College in Pittsburgh . Cameron then worked as an accountant for a company in Lisbon, Ohio until 1874 . Then he became a partner in a company. From 1880 to 1893 he was the sole owner there.

Cameron was elected Treasurer of Columbiana County in 1893 and re-elected in 1895. Cameron then served as the bankruptcy administrator of the insolvent First National Bank in Lisbon for over a year in 1898 . The Republican Party nominated him in 1899 for the office of Treasurer of State of Ohio. He won the next election that year and was then re-elected in 1901. After the end of his second term, he was elected President of the Columbus Savings and Trust Company . He died in 1930 and was then buried in Green Lawn Cemetery in Columbus, Ohio.

Cameron was a 32nd Degree Freemason , a Knight Templar, a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF), a member of the Knights of Pythias, and a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE). In 1875 he married Laura Adella Irwin (1853-1923) from Cleveland, Ohio. The couple had a son named Roy MacDonald Cameron (* 1883). He was also a Presbyterian .
