Christian Baha (2008)

Christian Josef Baha (born October 30, 1968 in Vienna ) is an Austrian entrepreneur. He is the sole owner of the investment company Superfund , which he founded together with Christian Halper .

Career

Christian Baha grew up in a simple family. His mother died of leukemia when he was thirteen years old.

His first professional activity is contradicting evidence: According to one source, he worked as a police officer for ten years, according to another source, after training as a police officer, he was a member of the Vienna Security Guard for only three years . At the same time, he completed his evening school leaving examination and then began studying business administration at the University of Vienna without a regular degree.

During this time Christian Baha worked closely with Christian Halper.

Career

In the early 1990s he met the electrical engineer Christian Halper, who had developed software to read out teletext stock market data and process it on the computer ( TeleChart , later TeleTrader ).

From 1995 Christian Baha and Christian Halper built up the “Quadriga” investment group, which has been operating worldwide under the name Superfund since 2003. The headquarters are on Marc-Aurel-Strasse in Vienna . With the start of Quadriga Beteiligungs- und Vermögens-AG , the first managed futures fund for private investors was launched in Austria. In 1999 Baha took over TeleTrader, which was founded by Josef Holzer in 1991, and geared it towards the archiving and visualization of real-time products. TeleTrader, for its part, was listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange in 2001 .

The general economic recession forced the Superfund company to restructure in 2009, mainly through office closures and layoffs of employees. In 2010 the breakeven point was reached again. In autumn 2010 Baha took over all Superfund shares from his business partner Halper, who however remained on board as a consultant and investor.

In 2009, on Baha's initiative, the Supergood organic restaurant was opened in Berlin, which was also to be established in Austria in 2012.

Sponsorship

Superfund sponsored the athletes Sybille Bammer , Mirna Jukić and Bode Miller .

In addition, from 2002/03 to 2006/07 the soccer team FC Superfund Pasching and from July 2008 to the end of the 2010/11 season the soccer team Kapfenberger Sportvereinigung Superfund received financial support.

As a sponsor , Christian Baha also provided financial means for the conversion of Arnold Schwarzenegger's birthplace in Thal, built in the style of Biedermeier, into the Schwarzenegger Museum , which was inaugurated with a soft opening on July 30, 2011 after a delay of several years .

Private life

Christian Baha has had a relationship with the former Austrian athlete Stephanie Graf (* 1973) since 2009 . He and Graf have a daughter (* 2010) and a son (* 2003) from a previous relationship.

Baha is friends with director Oliver Stone and was given the opportunity to star in two Hollywood films. In Wall Street: Money Doesn't Sleep , he played a hedge fund boss and in Transformers 3 a wicked wizard. In 2012 he also worked in Kevin Carraway's 7 Below - House of Dark Souls as Dr. Lipski and in the thriller Savages , another production by Oliver Stone, as DEA agent . He has also worked as a television and film producer for years, including at the Women's World Awards 2006 and 2009, the Save the World Awards 2009 and Eugenio Mira's 2013 mystery thriller Grand Piano - Symphony of Fear .
