Christian "Büdi" Blunck (born June 28, 1968 in Hamburg ) is a former German national hockey player (1988–1998) and current sports reporter.

Christian Blunck was born as the son of the hockey trainer and former national player Greta Blunck (born February 12, 1938). His father died early. Christian Blunck has been playing hockey since 1974. As a player and captain of the Harvestehuder Tennis and Hockey Club (HTHC), he won the German championship five times, was European champion with the German national hockey team in Paris in 1991 and won the gold medal with it at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona . There he was also voted the best player of the tournament and in 1996 Germany's hockey player of the year.

In 1991 Blunck founded the BHP GmbH ( Büdis Hockey Pool ) in Hamburg-Winterhude with his then HTHC teammate, the national goalkeeper Andreas "Arntzi" Arntzen . In 2000 he left the company.

Since 1995 Blunck has worked as a columnist for the Hamburger Morgenpost , BILD Hamburg and as a co-commentator for German sports television (DSF) and Eurosport . From summer 2006 to summer 2007, Blunck commented on the pay-TV broadcaster Arena , which sub-licensed the Bundesliga rights to Premiere in summer 2007 . Blunck also frequently works for the sports channel sportdigital.tv . For example, he commented on the 2010 Hockey World Cup in New Delhi and the match between the USA and Russia at the Tennis Federation Cup in Birmingham (USA). Blunck also comments on games in field hockey at Eurosport from the Hamburg studio.

In 1998 he ended his active hockey career after playing 196 times for the German men's national team.

Christian Blunck was the coach of the first men at Harvestehuder THC (first division) from summer 2009 to summer 2011. The field season 2011/12 and the indoor season 2011/12 were led by Blunck together with Christoph Bechmann, who took over the sole management in summer 2012. Christian Blunck has been assistant coach of the first women since summer 2012.

In June 2000, Blunck took over the beach hotel in Hamburg-Blankenese together with the trained baker and pastry chef Michael Bischoff, Eva Herman's husband . The two friends fell out in 2004. Then Blunck shared the management with Dietmar Müller-Dunkmann, until 2003 event manager of the handball Bundesliga club HSV Hamburg . The lease for the hotel expired in 2008 and was not renewed.

Christian Blunck is a member of "emadeus", the club for former top athletes in the Deutsche Sporthilfe Foundation .

From January 2007 to July 2009 Blunck was 1st chairman of the Harvestehuder THC .

In 2011 he married Jenny Falckenberg.
