Christian Alberto Cueva Bravo (born November 23, 1991 in Trujillo ) is a Peruvian football player . He is currently in the Brazilian first division side FC Santos under contract and will be up and in the national team of Peru on the position of attacking midfielder .

Career

society

Cueva began his career in his Peruvian homeland at Universidad San Martín , for which he appeared in over 100 games and scored 18 goals. In August 2012 he moved to Universidad César Vallejo , where he only played for four months. Because already in January 2013 he moved to the Chilean first division club Unión Española . In August 2013 he moved to Spain on loan to Rayo Vallecano until the end of the 2013/14 season , but where he could not prevail and was only used in a single game. After the loan ended, Cueva returned to Peru and signed a contract with the traditional club Alianza Lima . After just one season he left the capital city again and went to the Mexican club Deportivo Toluca . There, too, it only lasted a year and he moved on to São Paulo FC .

On July 15, 2018, he moved to the Premjer Liga club FK Krasnodar for a transfer fee of eight million euros . There Cueva signed a four-year contract. In February 2019 he returned to Brazil in a one-year loan deal with Santos FC . The Peixe also had a purchase obligation after the end of the 2019 season in the amount of six million euros. In late September 2019, Cueva was involved in a physical altercation at a nightclub in Santos and was subsequently suspended from his club. In total, he played only 16 competitive appearances in this season, in which he did not score.

In late January 2020, Cueva and FC Santos forced his departure from the team and negotiated unsuccessfully with the Club Atlético San Lorenzo de Almagro from Argentina . On February 14, 2020, he finally switched to the Mexican first division club CF Pachuca on loan until the end of the year , who secured a purchase option. On February 19, 2020 he made his debut in the 1: 5 cup defeat against Deportivo Toluca for the Tuzos when he came on for Víctor Dávila in the 73rd minute of the game . Due to the premature end of the season, he only played two league games in the remaining Clausura 2020 . In July 2020, he returned prematurely to Santos FC.

National team

After four appearances in the U20 , Christian Cueva made his debut on June 1, 2011 in a friendly against Japan for Peru's senior team . He took part in the Copa América 2015 and Copa América Centenario 2016 with Peru .

In May 2018 Cueva was appointed to the Peruvian squad, which represented the country at the 2018 World Cup in Russia. In the first group game against Denmark , Cueva took a penalty at the end of the first half, but he missed it himself. The game was lost 0-1. Also in the two other games, the defeat against eventual world champions France and the win against Australia , Cueva was in the starting line-up of Peru. In the end, Peru finished third in the group with three points and was eliminated from the World Cup.
