Christian Karl August Albrecht Count of Erbach-Fürstenau (born September 18, 1757 in Fürstenau ; † May 10, 1803 in Fürstenau) was the ruling Count of Erbach-Fürstenau , Lord of Breuberg and later Prussian Major General .

Christian Karl August Albrecht was the second of five children of Count Georg Albrecht III. zu Erbach-Fürstenau (born June 14, 1731, † May 2, 1778 in Fürstenau) and his wife Josepha Eberhardine Adolfe Wilhelmine, née Princess von Schwarzburg-Sondershausen (born February 2, 1737, † July 27, 1788), daughter of Christian von Schwarzburg-Sondershausen , born.

Military career

At the age of just twelve, Christian Karl was appointed a Dutch lieutenant in the regiment of the Prince of Nassau-Usingen on February 10, 1769 . From March 12, 1784 (after the surprising death of his older brother Friedrich August) he was first co-ruling and on January 16, 1794 (following the death of his uncle Ludwig II. Friedrich Graf zu Erbach-Fürstenau) then sole ruling count. On September 2, 1784 he became a captain in the regiment of the Prince of Hesse-Darmstadt . He had repeatedly successfully advertised for the Prussian Army , so on January 27, 1795 he changed to Prussian services, became Colonel of the Cavalry and titular officer of the Army. On March 31, 1796 he received the Order of the Red Eagle and was promoted to major general on May 28, 1797. He died on May 10, 1803 at Fürstenau Castle.

Christian Karl married on July 25, 1786 in Heilbronn Dorothea Luise Marianne von Degenfeld-Schonburg (* March 12, 1765 - December 14, 1827), daughter of Colonel August Christoph von Degenfeld-Schonburg (1730-1814). The couple had several children including:

  • Wilhelm Ludwig Friedrich (* July 22, 1788; † October 12, 1865), Austrian treasurer
