Loidl met some of these writers during a stay at the Jack Kerouac School for Disembodied Poetics in Boulder, USA in the late 1980s and early 1990s. He was particularly enthusiastic about the poet Harry Smith (1936–2012).

Inspired by experiences with communicating poetry, he started the “School for Poetry” in 1992 together with other authors, including Christian Ide Hintze . In the next few years Loidl was a welcome guest at poetry events, for example in 1992 in Struga, Macedonia and at the Poetic Spring Lithuania in Vilnius , at the Milano Poesia 1993, the New Rage Festival Amsterdam 1995, the Festival de Poesía Medellín 1999, the Austrian Psycho Nites in Berlin 2000, the Autumn Festival Lithuania in the same year and the International Poetry Festival in Rosario 2001.
