Christian Wilhelm von Stangen

Christian Wilhelm von Stangen (born March 7, 1743 in Braunschweig , † April 15, 1809 in Riesenburg ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Military career

Stangen went into service in Brunswick in 1760 and joined the “Koppelow” regiment. During the Seven Years' War he fought under Duke Karl Wilhelm Ferdinand of Braunschweig and distinguished himself in the battle near Dellinghausen. At that time he became an ensign on September 15, 1761 .

After the war, Stangen was promoted to lieutenant and was transferred to the body regiment on January 24, 1773. But on October 11, 1772 he said goodbye and the Duke Karl Wilhelm Ferdinand placed him in Prussian services . Stangen came on November 1, 1773 as a prime lieutenant with a patent on September 6, 1770 in the infantry regiment "von Rosen" . There he became a staff captain on June 20, 1775 and as such took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession . On June 14, 1780 he became captain and company commander . Stangen rose to major on June 27, 1790 and took part in the campaign in Poland in 1794/95 . There he suffered a fracture and had to go back for treatment. On September 16, 1795 he was then appointed battalion commander. On May 20, 1798 he rose to lieutenant colonel with a patent from June 19, 1798 and on May 20, 1800 he became a colonel with a patent from June 2, 1800. On April 4, 1803 he was appointed commander of the von Natzmer infantry regiment " . Because of the persistent complaints from his break, Stangen received his resignation as major general on October 23, 1806 , and a pension could initially be paid. He died on April 15, 1809 in Riesenburg.

Stangen married Johanna Albertine Antoinette Wilhelmine von Rosenberg-Gruszczynski (* December 21, 1763, † October 22, 1830) [Littchen] in 1784 . The couple had several children:
