Christoph Friedrich von Mosch (born September 25, 1733 in Altdorf near Sagan , † July 22, 1821 in Berlin ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and commander of Wesel .

Life

Christoph Friedrich von Mosch was one of 16 children of Hans Christoph von Mosch and his wife Charlotte Franziska, née von Unruh . His brothers were among others Lieutenant General Carl Rudolph von Mosch (1718–1798) and Major General August Wilhelm von Mosch (1735–1815).

Military career

In 1748 Mosch became one of eight personal pages of King Frederick the Great of Prussia. After completing his page service, he joined the "Margrave" infantry regiment on November 29, 1752 as an ensign and on June 29, 1756 was promoted to second lieutenant . During the Seven Years' War the regiment repeatedly took part in particularly tough and costly battles, in which Mosch was wounded several times. He was particularly hard hit by a head injury, which a surgeon masterfully repaired with a silver plate. On March 8, 1758 he was Premier Lieutenant , on February 22, 1762 staff captain and on May 17, 1768 captain and company commander . After his promotion on 13 December 1778 as Major , he was born on March 3, 1786 battalion commander on June 4, 1788 Lieutenant Colonel , on September 1, 1790 Colonel and on December 4, 1792 commander of the Infantry Regiment "Duke Frederick of Brunswick" . On December 29, 1794 he became chief of the infantry regiment "von Bonin", which was now called the infantry regiment "von Mosch". On January 8, 1795 he became major general and on March 5, 1795 received the order Pour le Mérite .

On January 28, 1799 King Friedrich Wilhelm III transferred him . the commandant's office in Wesel . On June 25, 1802, he was made lieutenant general and on October 13, 1805, he was retired because his health conditions no longer allowed him to continue his post. Mosch was buried on July 26, 1821 in the churchyard in front of the Hallesches Tor in Berlin.

On February 10, 1794, he married Charlotte Friederike Haack (April 16, 1752 - March 6, 1804), daughter of Erdmann Friedrich von Haack. The marriage had six children, including:
