Circolo Canottieri Aniene

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Circolo Canottieri Aniene (CCA) is an Italian sports and social association from Rome . The name Circolo Canottieri ( Italian for rowing club ) reveals which sport was the actual motivation for founding the club. The additional designation Aniene provides information about the waters on which the founding fathers originally practiced their sport. Today the association is based not far from the Acqua Acetosa train station in the Roman district of Parioli . Its current headquarters is about 2 km southwest of the point where the Aniene flows into the Tiber .

history

The association was founded in 1892 by Alessandro Morani and some brothers from the Fasoli family.

In the 1950s, the association established its current headquarters. After moving from Aniene to the Tiber, other sports were added, although rowing always remained the focus of club sports. Of the new sports, swimming has proven to be the greatest success, as several swimmers of the club have already won national and international titles in their respective disciplines.

Due to its excellent youth work, the club was awarded the "Golden Wreath" on January 23, 2002, the highest award in Italy.
