Clemente Faccani

Clemente Faccani (born October 19, 1920 in Lugo , Province of Ravenna , Italy ; † September 15, 2011 in Imola , Province of Bologna , Italy) was a Roman Catholic clergyman and diplomat of the Holy See .

Life

Clemente Faccani was ordained a priest on April 10, 1943 by the Bishop of Imola, Paolino Giovanni Tribbioli OFMCap , and was incardinated in the clergy of the Diocese of Imola . He then worked for a few years in the parish of San Giacomo in Lugo. He then studied canon and civil law at the Pontifical Diplomatic Academy in Rome and joined the diplomatic service of the Vatican in 1955. He worked at the representations in Guatemala , Costa Rica , China , Belgium , Australia , Papua New Guinea , USA and Kenya . Pope Paul VI awarded him the title of Apostolic Protonotary .

On June 27, 1983, Pope John Paul II appointed him titular archbishop of Serra and apostolic pro-nuncio in Kenya and the Seychelles . The episcopal ordination received his Cardinal Secretary of State Agostino Casaroli on September 3, 1983; Co-consecrators were the Curia Archbishops Achille Silvestrini and Duraisamy Simon Lourdusamy .

He resigned as Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in the Seychelles on May 14, 1994. On March 9, 1996, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation. Faccani died on September 15, 2011 in Imola Municipal Hospital.
