Colleen Atwood

Colleen Atwood (born September 25, 1948 in Yakima , Washington ) is an American costume designer . She won the Oscar for Best Costume in 2003 for Chicago , 2006 for The Geisha , 2011 for Alice in Wonderland, and 2017 for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them .

Atwood studied fashion design at the Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle . In 1981 she worked for the first time in a film as the assistant to Patrizia von Brandenstein on the set of Ragtime . In 1985 Atwood designed the costumes for the concert film Bring on the Night by the musician Sting , for whose concerts and music videos she also designed clothes in later years. She worked on several films with Tim Burton and Jonathan Demme . Atwood has been nominated eleven times for the Oscar until 2017 , four times she could win it. Atwood also received the British Academy of Film and Television Arts award for two films.
