The 22nd Commonwealth Games are expected to take place from August 27 to September 7, 2022 in the English city ​​of Birmingham , United Kingdom , after the original location of Durban , South Africa, was withdrawn.

First award 2015

In September 2015, the 2022 Commonwealth Games were awarded to the South African city of Durban. In February 2017, the South African Sports Minister, Fikile Mbalula , stated that the government was considering discontinuing its financial support for the Games: "We cannot live beyond our means." A few weeks later, it became known that Durban had not met the requirements of the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) can meet.
