The Urban community of Nice Côte d'Azur was one of municipalities ( communauté urbaine ) in France in the Alpes-Maritimes in the region Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur .

history
The community association was founded on January 1st, 2002. Its first president was Jacques Peyrat . In 2010 it had 535,543 inhabitants who lived on 351 km 2 .
On December 31, 2011 this association of municipalities was dissolved. It merged with the communal alliances (communautés) Communauté de Communes de la Vésubie , Communauté de Communes de la Tinée , Communauté de Communes des stations du Mercantour and Commune de la Tour-sur-Tinée to form the first metropolis in France, namely the metropolis Nice Côte d ' Azur with now 49 municipalities and 537,769 inhabitants on an area of 1400 km 2 (2012).
