history

The Communauté de communes Rives de l'Ain-Pays du Cerdon was created on January 1, 2012 from the merger of two neighboring former municipal associations, each of which had existed for a while:

• Communauté de communes Bugey-Vallée de l'Ain: Association of 10 municipalities in the Poncin area , founded on December 16, 1998.
• Communauté de communes de Pont-d'Ain, Priay, Varambon : Association of 3 municipalities around Pont-d'Ain, founded on December 7, 1999.

In the course of the restructuring of further associations of municipalities in the Arrondissement of Nantua , the municipality of Serrières-sur-Ain joined on January 1, 2014 .
