The Communauté de communes du Pays de Brisach is a former French association of municipalities with the legal form of a Communauté de communes in the Haut-Rhin department in the Grand Est region . It was founded on December 17, 2009 and comprised 22 parishes. The administrative seat was in the place Volgelsheim .

It was named after the Pays de Brisach , Alsatian : Brisàcher Lànd . This describes the area around Neuf-Brisach , since in Alsace Brisach (as Breisach is called both in French and in the Alemannic dialects on the left and right of the Rhine) means Neuf-Brisach and Breisach am Rhein, on the other hand, means Vieux-Brisach or Alt (e) -Brisach calls.

Historical development

The municipal association existed from 1964 to 2009 as SIVOM du Pays de Brisach ( Syndicat intercommunal à vocations multiples , e.g. intercommunal umbrella association ).

With effect from January 1, 2017, the community association merged with the Communauté de communes Essor du Rhin and thus formed the successor organization Communauté de communes Pays Rhin-Brisach .
