Cornellà de Llobregat [ kʊɾnəˈʎɑ ðə ʎʊβɾəˈɣɑt ] is a city in the metropolitan area of Barcelona in the Spanish autonomous community of Catalonia and belongs to the metropolitan area Àrea Metropolitana de Barcelona .

Administratively, the municipality belongs to the province of Barcelona and within this to the Comarca Baix Llobregat . The city is located in the southwest of the metropolitan area and borders the municipalities of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat , Sant Boi de Llobregat , El Prat de Llobregat , Sant Joan Despí and Esplugues de Llobregat . The city lies on the north bank of the Llobregat River . Cornellà de Llobregat has 88,592 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019). The community area is 6.9 km².

Cornellà de Llobregat is a typical suburban parish that experienced rapid population growth in the 20th century. The Polígon Industrial Almeda industrial area is located in Cornellà. The city is well connected to Barcelona via the local public transport network ( metro , bus, tram and regional train ).
