The Creußen , with its longest upper course, is almost 35 km long in the Upper Palatinate hill country in Bavaria , which flows from the right into the Haidenaab at the village of Dorfgmünd in the city of Grafenwöhr after a predominantly east to south-east run .
geography
course
The Creussen rises near the southeast boundary of the district Bayreuth for Neustadt an der Waldnaab . On the southern edge of the village of Altencreußen in the municipality of Prebitz , a sign indicates a source of Creußen . From there, the stream that begins there initially flows approximately south-southeast and after less than 400 meters from the right takes on an approximately one kilometer long tributary from the right, which previously flowed through the Hofweiher on the western edge of Altenncreußen . A few hundred meters later the stream reaches the border with the Neustadt district, where an inconsistently water-bearing, also longer channel from the Frankenberg in the northeast of Altencreißen runs from the left and the stream is crossed by the Eger – Nuremberg railway line .
After crossing over to the market area of Kirchenthumbach in the Neustädter district, in which the Creußen now remains up to its mouth, the Steinbach flows from the southwest, the sources of which are in the Kirchenthumbach hamlet of Heinersberg. With a little over 2 km, it is the longest upper course and is included in the branch established by the state authorities and the length calculation for the Creußen.
After that, the Creußen flows approximately eastwards and takes its first longer tributaries on its way through the area of Kirchenthumbach and the municipality of Schlammersdorf , whereupon it orientates itself on the border from Schlammersdorf to the municipality of Vorbach east-southeast and thus also crosses the municipality of Speinshart .
Through the urban area of Eschenbach in the Upper Palatinate , it turns south-east and finally takes in the Eschenbach , the first of its three largest tributaries, from the west and across from the village of Bärnwinkel in the left-wing Crussian community of Trabitz . In the area of the adjoining town of Grafenwöhr , it flows alternately from southwest to south. In the city center the Thumbach flows, towards the end of the closed development then the Schaumbach, these two other large tributaries come roughly from the west.
At Grafenwöhr -Dorfgmünd, the Creußen flows with an average water flow of 1.86 m³ / s into the Haidenaab, which is almost 80% richer in water .
