Cristóbal Ricardo Montoro Romero (born July 28, 1950 in Jaén ) is a Spanish politician of the Partido Popular and economist .
life and career
Montoro studied economics at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid . In 1973 he obtained a degree there, and in 1981 a doctorate . He worked there from 1973 to 1982 as a lecturer , between 1982 and 1988 as a professor of public finance. From 1989 he was a professor at the University of Cantabria .
Montoro was and is a member of the Congreso de los Diputados (1993 to 2004, since 2008). Between 2004 and 2008 he was a member of the European Parliament .
He was State Secretary in the Ministry of Economic Affairs (1996 to 2000) and from 2000 to 2004 Spanish Minister of Finance . On December 21, 2011, he was reappointed Minister of Finance in the Rajoy cabinet.
