Culiacan Cathedral |
Culiacán , officially Culiacán Rosales , is the capital of the state of Sinaloa in Mexico with 675,773 inhabitants (as of 2010) and was founded on September 29, 1531 by Nuño Beltrán de Guzmán . It is about 210 kilometers each, equidistant from Los Mochis and Mazatlán .
Culiacán is primarily an administrative, main commercial and agricultural center and offers few attractions.
The city's tourist attractions include the 19th century Culiacán Cathedral , the Palacio Municipal (City Hall) on Calle Obregón & Escobedo, and the Malecón (promenade) along the Tamazula and Humaya rivers.
Numerous scenes from the TV series La Reina del Sur take place in Culiacan .
