history

Originally the Gau Barten of the Prussians was here . Since 1243 the Diocese of Ermland was part of the Teutonic Order . The manor Schönfließ was founded in 1376. After the Second Peace of Thorn in 1466, Warmia was subordinated to the Crown of Poland as an autonomous duchy of Warmia . With the first partition of Poland in 1772, Warmia became part of the Kingdom of Prussia .

Since May 1874, the Schönfließ estate was part of the Ramsau district ; in 1928 it was converted into a rural municipality and in 1935 into the municipality of Schönfließ . The estate with an area of 520 hectares was first owned by Lieutenant Fritz Mayer after 1900 and then by the Hugo († 1937) and Emmi Loeffler family until 1945.

Due to the provisions of the Versailles Treaty , the population in the Allenstein voting area , to which Schönfließ belonged, voted on July 11, 1920 on whether it would continue to belong to East Prussia (and thus to Germany) or join Poland. In Schönfließ, 80 residents voted to remain with East Prussia, Poland did not cast any votes.

After January 20, 1945 Schonfliess was captured by the Red Army. After the end of the war the village became part of the People's Republic of Poland and is called Dadaj . The former manor house was rebuilt and serves as the Hotel Star-Dadaj Resort & SPA .
