It is located in the valley of the Nieste , which flows through the village roughly in a south-east-north-west direction or touches it in the south- west and flows into the north-west of the village of Hopbach. history
Dahlheim was first mentioned in a document in 1318 in the loan book of Duke Otto of Braunschweig. Furthermore, the place is mentioned in 1340 as Tahlheym iuxta ripam Nyest . In the 19th century, Dahlheim was the seat of the Baptist congregation living in the area . Around 1700, 12 people lived in the village, the number rose to 133 by 1867, but decreased slightly to 127 in 1875. The once independent community of Dahlheim merged with Uschlag in July 1965 to form the large community of Uschlag. Escherode joined them in February 1970. On January 1, 1973, the community Uschlag joined the newly formed community of Staufenberg as part of the Lower Saxony regional reform.
