Dalíchow village church

The place Dalichow is the smallest and highest situated district of Niedergörsdorf .

geography

The place is five kilometers west of Niedergörsdorf, three kilometers north of Blönsdorf and eleven kilometers west of Jüterbog . Dalichow lies in Fläming on a fertile strip of loess which was formed during the Vistula Ice Age . The place is a small village with a largely preserved village structure. There are two ponds in the village.

In the center of the village stands the Dalichow village church , which was built in the 13th century. It does not have a church tower and thus belongs to the simplest type of the so-called Fläming churches. The church stands in the middle of the cemetery surrounded by a stone wall.

history

The place name goes back to the Slavic word daleko (= far), a Slavic personal name, or is of Wendish origin: Dalichoste = "fat or rich meadow". The village was first mentioned in 1286 and acquired by the Zinna monastery . Dalichow passed in 1394 together with Kaltenborn , Lindow and the desert Malterhausen in the possession of the Jüterboger nunnery. After Ettmüller, Dalichow was the location of the nunnery's fish pond. Between 1570 and 1594 the village passed to the office of Jüterbog; from 1817 to 1872 it belonged to the Zinna office. In 1815/1816 the place came to the Jüterbog-Luckenwalde district in the Kingdom of Prussia . The vernacular has its own explanation for the missing church tower: "Once a farmer hitched his geese to the plow. However, they flew away with the plow and tore the church tower down. In June, the strawberry ball is traditionally celebrated in Dalichow.
