history

In the area of the village there have been archaeological finds from the Iron Age and finds from the time when the Slavs settled here. The place was probably founded in the last third of the 12th century. In 1330 the place is called "Melmetorf", from 1503 "Melnnsdorf". The village of Buggendorp near Mellnsdorf is documented for the year 1356 and later fell into desolation .

Until 1513 Mellnsdorf belonged to the Zahna office and thus to Electoral Prussia. From 1816 it belonged to the Wittenberg district , until 1952 to the Jüterbog district . On July 1, 1950, Mellnsdorf was incorporated into Blönsdorf . With this it came to Niedergörsdorf in 1998 .

The place

Mellnsdorf is 15 kilometers southwest of Jüterbog and 8 kilometers southwest of Niedergörsdorf . The neighboring towns are Kurzlipsdorf , Blönsdorf , Seehausen , Naundorf bei Seyda and Klebitz . The last two places are in Saxony-Anhalt . The dead end village extends north-west-south-east direction south of the Berlin – Halle railway line , but has no stop itself. At the northern end of the elongated village green is the village pond, south of it the village church. The windmill is located north of the village, it can only be reached by car with a detour via Blönsdorf.

The place is characterized by agriculture.

To the west of the church there is a wooden tower with a tent roof on the roof of the church. All openings have round arches, including the portals that are now walled up on both sides and the priest's gate. The church was renovated in 1891, 1892, 1928 and 1929. The cafeteria was built in the first half of the 13th century. The rest of the altar dates from 1892, as does the baptism and pulpit.
