Gölsdorf is a district of the municipality Niedergörsdorf in the district of Teltow-Fläming in the state of Brandenburg .

history

How Gölsdorf came about is largely unknown. It was first mentioned in 1192 as "Gölisdorp". The name includes a Slavic family name. The village of Schweinsdorf was located southwest of Gölsdorf, which fell in a desolate way by 1575 at the latest . In 1506 there were 15 Hüfner in Gölsdorf . After the Thirty Years War , eleven Hüfner farmsteads were not occupied. In 1818 159 lived in the place. As part of the separation , which was completed in 1856, trenches were dug to protect the village from flooding . The Berlin-Wittenberg railway line was built in 1841, but Gölsdorf was only connected to this railway line in 1898. The station, however, was named after Niedergörsdorf. From 1816 Gölsdorf belonged to the Schweinitz district and thus to the province of Saxony . At the time of the GDR , Gölsdorf belonged to the Jüterbog district .

The place

Gölsdorf is eight kilometers southwest of Jüterbog and two kilometers south of Niedergörsdorf . The neighboring towns are Niedergörsdorf, Dennewitz and Seehausen . The place extends as a street village in north-south direction. The mill is in the north on the road to Niedergörsdorf . The village church is in the northern part of the village, with a pond in front of it . Further south there are two more ponds.

The place is characterized by agriculture.

Architectural monuments

In Gölsdorf the village church with the cenotaph for Rittmeister Franz Johann Ludwig Alberthal is registered as a monument in the list of monuments. Other architectural monuments are the mill in the north of the village and a memorial stone to those who died in 1813 at the Battle of Dennewitz .

A church stood here as early as 1192 . The current church was built in the second half of the 13th century. In 1579 essential wooden parts were renewed, the stone walls were preserved. The tower was built in 1725 and renewed in 1775. There were renovations in 1848, 1888 and 1934. It is a hall building with a half-timbered tower . The tower has a square floor plan , an octagonal bell storey and a dome with a lantern . The nave and the choir have separate gable roofs . The furnishings were mainly created during the renovations in 1888. Altar, organ and a lectern are from this year. The baptism is from the 19th century, the pewter bowl from 1820. The bell was cast from bronze in the 13th century.

In the churchyard around the church there is a cenotaph for the cavalry master Franz Johann Ludwig Alberthal (1778–1813) in the north of the church . He fell in the battle of Dennewitz . The design for the cenotaph comes from Karl Friedrich Schinkel . The year of installation is unknown; it is said to have been installed between 1820 and 1860. There is a dedication on the front panel and a coat of arms with an iron cross on the sides.

At the village pond near the church there is a memorial stone for those who fell in the battle of Dennewitz. The stone was erected in 1913. It should make it clear that other villages were also affected by the battle.

The post mill is on the northern edge of the village. A windmill is mentioned as early as 1542. The current mill was built between 1686 and 1688. It has been operated with an electric motor since 1909, and the mill was stopped in 1980.
