Lindow village church

Lindow is a district of the municipality Niedergörsdorf in the district of Teltow-Fläming in the state of Brandenburg .

history

How Lindow came about is largely unknown. It was first mentioned in 1142 as the Wendisch-Linde settlement. The church still preserved today was possibly built at the end of the 12th century. From around 1459 the addition "teutonica" was used, there was a "Linde slawica" in the former Jessen district . In 1527 the name "Lindow" was used.

From around 1318 until the Reformation, the village belonged to the Jüterbog nunnery. Until 1817 it was part of the Jüterbog office . After its dissolution, the Zinna office was held until 1872 . In 1962 it was incorporated into Malterhausen .

The place

Lindow is eleven kilometers west of Jüterbog and six kilometers northwest of Niedergörsdorf . The neighboring towns are Malterhausen , Kaltenborn and Eckmannsdorf . The original place extends as a street village from northwest to southeast. At the southeast end, the street is expanded as a triangular square, here is the church. Further to the north-west is the lenticular meadow, in the middle is the village pond. There are four-sided courtyards here on the Anger. From the 19th century the village was expanded in all directions.

The place is characterized by agriculture. Two LPGs were founded in 1956 and 1958 . These were merged with the LPG in Malterhausen in 1960.

Architectural monuments

  • In Lindow, the Lindow village church is registered as a monument in the list of monuments. It was possibly built at the end of the 12th century, but the further history of the building is still unclear. It is a hall building with a square choir and a west tower. The church used to have an apse. The church is essentially built from stone blocks. Oak and ash wood from the years 1423 to 1426 can be identified from the roof. Inside there is an altarpiece, which was made between 1712 and 1736. On the altar piece is a coat of arms and monogram of Duke Christian von Sachsen-Weißenfels . In the east of the choir there is a sacrament niche from the Middle Ages. The sandstone baptismal font was created around 1500. The bell was cast from bronze in the 15th century.
