Damir Rastić (born July 23, 1988 ) is a Serbian biathlete .

Career

Damir Rastić starts for SK Sjenica . He has competed in the Junior European Cup since 2005. In 2006 he started at the European Junior Championships in Langdorf and was 76th in the individual and sprint. Rastić has been running in the European Biathlon Cup since the 2006/07 season . He contested his first race in 2006 in Obertilliach and finished 115th in the sprint. In Martell he was 2007 at the Junior World Championships and was there 51st in the sprint race, 48th in the sprint and 50th in the pursuit race. At the European Junior Championships in Bansko , his best result was a 34th place in the pursuit. In between, Rastić competed at the 2007 Biathlon World Championships in Antholz . In the sprint he was 91st, although he did not compete in the individual. At the end of the 2006/07 season , the Serb made his debut in the Biathlon World Cup at Holmenkollen in Oslo . In his first race, an individual, he came in 105th place. In the following year he also competed in three major events in succession. First he was in Ruhpolding at the Junior World Championships 84th in the individual and 78th in the sprint. At the biathlon world championships in 2008 in Östersund three appearances were added. Rastić finished 84th in the singles. It was the best result of a Serb at the World Cup and Rastić's best result at the World Cup. In the sprint he was also 103rd, with the 24th season. The Junior European Championships in Nové Město na Moravě resulted in a 28th place in the sprint as the best result. With the beginning of the 2008/09 season  , Rastic started in the World Cup. However, he never achieved an individual placement in the top 100. This was also the case at the 2009 World Championships , where he was 100th in individual and sprint. With the relay, he finished 26th. Rastć also started in the World Cup in the following years and always ended up in the range of positions between 90 and 100. Things went much better for him in the 2012/13 season . Although he only started in the second half of the season, he was able to  achieve a placement in the top 60 for the first time with position 59 in the individual in Sochi .  Damir Rastić was able to improve again in the 2013/14 season . With 58th place in the Pokljuka sprint , the Serb was able to qualify for a pursuit in the World Cup for the first time. There he was 57 after 7 shooting errors. Right at the beginning of the following season he was able to reach this position 57 (his best World Cup result) again in the singles in Östersund. After he last  competed in a World Cup race in 2015 and ran numerous IBU Cup races, Rastić returned to the World Cup  in Oberhof in 2019 with 91st place in the sprint.

Cross-country skiing

In addition to biathlon, Rastić also does cross-country skiing . Between 2003 and 2006 in particular, he competed in lower-class international races such as the Balkan Cup and FIS races . In the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2005 from Oberstdorf the Serb in the 15-kilometer freestyle race went on and was 116. After being concentrated between 2006 and 2009 mainly due to the biathlon, launched Rastić in 2010 again at a FIS race in Jahorina in Bosnia -Herzegovina . In the next few years Rastić commuted both between the biathlon competition level Biathlon World Cup and IBU Cup , as well as between cross-country skiing Continental Cups and FIS races. In the 2015/16 season he reached third place overall in the Balkan Cup. He achieved second place twice and third place once. The following season he came in second place seven times in the Balkan Cup. In addition, he won his first victories in this racing series in Ravna Gora and in Bansko over 10 km freestyle and thus finished second in the overall standings at the end of the season. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 2017 , he came 80th in the sprint. In December of that year he made his debut in the 2017/18 Cross-Country Skiing World Cup. At the sprint in Davos , he was 104. At the beginning of the year he won the 10 km race in the Balkan Cup in Erzurum, Turkey . At the subsequent Winter Olympics  in Pyeongchang in 2018 , Rastić started in the cross-country skiing competitions. In the 15 km freestyle race he was 68th, in the sprint 75th Shortly afterwards he was able to win another 10 km freestyle race in Zlatibor .
