Daniel Mezger

Daniel Mezger (* 1978 ) is a Swiss writer .

Life

Daniel Mezger grew up in Linthal ( Canton Glarus ), studied drama at the Bern University of Music and Theater , then worked at the Göttingen Young Theater and later freelance in Zurich as an actor and photo model. From 2006 to 2009 he studied at the Swiss Literature Institute in Biel / Bienne . His plays, which are published by S. Fischer Verlag , have been performed in various German-speaking theaters. In 2007, Theater heute received a nomination for young dramatist of the year. His piece Balkanmusik was invited to the Berliner Autorentheatertage of the Deutsches Theater Berlin in 2011 in the production of the State Theater Mainz . When I was once dead and Martin L. Gore didn't come to see me, it was performed in 2016 at the Elefante Club de Teatro in Buenos Aires .

At the invitation of the Bachmann Prize juror Burkhard Spinnen , Mezger read an excerpt from his novel Land Playing at the Days of German-Language Literature in 2010 . The novel was published by Salis Verlag in 2012 . He was nominated for the Rauriser Literature Prize 2013. In
2019 his second novel Everything but Me was published , also by Salis Verlag.

Mezger is also the singer of the band A Bang and a Whimper . In 2011 he was the in-house author of Therme Vals , in 2012 he received a scholarship from the artist village of Schöppingen and was awarded the City of Zurich's Work Year 2012. He is part of the theater collective Bues / Mezger / Schwabenland. And writes a regular column in the Literary Month .
