Darius Lelėnas (born October 15, 1982 in Elektrėnai , Lithuanian Socialist Soviet Republic ) is a former Lithuanian ice hockey player who last played until 2013 with the Kongsvinger Knights in the second-rate Norwegian 1st divisjon .

Career

Clubs

Darius Lelėnas began his career as a ice hockey player with the Lithuanian record champions Energija Elektrėnai , for whom he made his debut in the then East European Hockey League in 1997 at the age of 15 . In the 2001 season he won the Lithuanian championship with his club . The following year he played in the second Russian division with Jantar Seversk . After only one year in Siberia, he returned to his hometown and was again active for SC Energija, with whom he played in the neighboring and stronger Latvian league . He then moved to the top Latvian club HK Liepājas Metalurgs , for whom he competed in both the Latvian ice hockey league and the Belarusian extra league. After he had become both Latvian champion and top scorer of the league with the club from Courland in 2008 , the Slovak first division club HC Dukla Trenčín signed him . But before the end of the season he returned to Liepāja. He spent the 2009/10 season at HK Brest , for which he also played in the Belarusian extra league. He then moved back to the British Isles, where he played a year for the Peterborough Phantoms in the second-rate English Premier Ice Hockey League . From there he went to Norway after the end of the season, where he played with the Kongsvinger Knights in the second-class 1st division and in 2013 he was promoted to the GET league with the team . Then he ended his career.

International

For Lithuania, Pliskauskas already took part in the junior division at the U18-C European Championships in 1996 and 1998 and the European Division 1 of the U18 World Championship in 1999 and the U20-C World Championships in 1999 and 2000 as well as after the changeover to the current division system at the U20- Division II World Championships in 2001 and 2002 .

He made his debut in the Lithuanian men's national team at the World Cup in Division I in 2001 , when the Lithuanians could not hold the class. After relegation, he played the men's ice hockey world championship in 2002 and 2004 , when he was promoted, in Division II. As a result, he was on the ice in Division I in 2005 , 2006 , 2007 , 2008 , 2009 , 2010 and 2011 . He was the tournament's top scorer in 2005 and 2006. He also represented his colors in the Olympic qualification for the Winter Games in Turin 2006 .
