Production of the Datsun 15 started in May 1936. Compared to its predecessor, the Datsun 14 , it had a completely new body . The war in Manchuria made it increasingly difficult to obtain the necessary materials . B. used little chrome . The appearance of the front section was based on the shape of the American cars of the time. The panel van model was again called 15 Van and the truck / pickup Datsun 15 Truck .

While bumpers were previously only available as an option, they were standard on the Datsun 15. The 722 cc engine was the same as the Datsun 14, but the compression ratio was increased from 5.2 to 5.4, increasing the power from 15 hp to 16 hp.

87 Datsun 15 were sold for export. In April 1937, the Datsun 16 replaced the model, while the Datsun 15 truck continued to be built until 1938.
