Dave Markee

Dave Markee (* in Haxey , North Lincolnshire ) is a British rock musician .

Career

Markee initially completed his school education in nearby Scunthorpe . At the age of 15 he developed the desire to become a professional musician and later studied music at Trinity College , London. In the early 1970s he joined Alan Price's band , with whom he toured for three years. He was also as a studio musician working, he played in 1971 as one of five bassists on the jazz-rock album septober energy of Centipede . This was followed by recordings with Ray Dorset and Leo Sayer, among others . He was frequently booked by producer Glyn Johns and played on the debut albums of Joan Armatrading , David Dundas , Chris Rea and the first solo album by Roger Chapman . In the early 1970s he worked as a musician on the films The Successful and Alfie, the philosopher of love ; in the former he was also seen as an extra as a bass player.

Between 1979 and 1982 he was a member of Eric Clapton's band . He can be heard on the studio album Another Ticket and the live album Just One Night . After the end of a tour through North America, the recordings for the album Money and Cigarettes began in the Bahamas in 1982 . Producer Tom Dowd was dissatisfied with the progress and the sound of the recordings; after two weeks not even a single piece was finished. Clapton then dismissed his entire band with the exception of guitarist Albert Lee . Markee then returned to England.

Markee was introduced to the Bible by Bryn Haworth in the late 1970s and in 1979 he turned completely to the Christian faith. Since then he has been involved in church work and making Christian music . After a divorce in the meantime, he is married for the second time to his wife Zoë, with whom he has three daughters.
