David Durmaz (born December 21, 1981 ) is a Swedish football player of Assyrian descent. The defender has played over a hundred games in Sweden's professional leagues Allsvenskan and Superettan . Due to the origin of his family from Turkey, Durmaz has both Swedish and Turkish citizenship.

Career

Durmaz began playing football at FF Södertälje and Syrianska SK before joining Assyriska Föreningen at the age of 17 . In 2001 he made his debut for the club in Swedish professional football. In the fourth year in the second division, thanks to the withdrawal of Örebro SK's license, they were promoted to the Allsvenskan despite the relegation games they lost against Örgryte IS . There the left full-back was one of the regular players, but could not prevent the direct relegation. After he had been used regularly for the club in the second division for another year in the 2006 season , he had a number of offers from higher-class and international clubs. He decided against offers from clubs like Ham-Kam from Norway or Thrasyvoulos from Greece and switched to GAIS in the Allsvenskan.

Durmaz played irregularly for GAIS in the Allsvenskan in two seasons. After the end of the term of his two-year contract in December 2008, he left the Green-Black and moved within the Allsvenskan to Malmö FF for free . He signed a three-year contract with the Skåne club . There he only came to one season assignment, as coach Roland Nilsson relied on Ricardinho and Ulrich Vinzents as full-backs . Therefore, he left the club early in the summer and signed a three-year contract with the Turkish club Denizlispor .

The Turkish club did not pay the agreed transfer fee, so Durmaz was initially without a club and returned to Sweden in the winter to audition for several clubs. Ultimately, he decided to join Ljungskile SK in the Superettan. Here he was in the starting line-up for long stretches of the season and placed with the team in the front midfield. After the end of the season, however, he left the club and joined Syrianska FC , who had been promoted to the Allsvenskan. With the club he occupied the relegation place in the 2011 season , but the team around Sharbel Touma , Peter Ijeh , Johan Arneng and Suleyman Sleyman prevailed against Ängelholms FF . however, he left the club after a season and returned to Assyriska Föreningen. In January 2012, he signed a three-year contract.
