David Murray (born December 28, 1909 in Edinburgh , † April 5, 1973 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria ) was a British racing driver who was active in Formula 1 from 1950 to 1952 .

Career

Murray made his debut on May 13, 1950 at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone . He started from 18th place, but retired during the race due to an engine failure. At the French Grand Prix in Reims he qualified for 20th place on the grid, but the race was completed by David Hampshire . On September 3 of that year, Murray took in Monza at the Italian Grand Prix in part, but did not finish the race due to a gearbox failure.

The 1951 season began for Murray on July 14, 1951 in Silverstone, where he retired again, this time because of a defective valve spring. He had an accident in training for the German Grand Prix and was unable to take part in the race.

In the 1952 season Murray drove a Cooper-Bristol T20 at the British Grand Prix . He was also unable to finish this race due to a faulty spark plug . So he started four times at a Grand Prix, but could not finish any race.

Murray died in a car accident in Gran Canaria in 1973 .
