David Stockdale (born September 20, 1985 in Leeds ) is an English football goalkeeper . He has been with Birmingham City since 2017 .

Career

York city

Stockdale began his career in the Huddersfield Town Youth Department and joined the York City Youth in 2000 . He made his debut for York on May 3, 2003 against Oxford United when he came on as a substitute for Michael Ingham at halftime . By 2006 he completed 23 more games for York, including two loan deals to FC Wakefield and Worksop Town .

Darlington FC

On August 1, 2006, he signed a one-year contract with League Two club Darlington FC . After a strong 2006/07 season, he received a follow-up contract until 2008.

Fulham FC

In April 2008, several English first division clubs were interested in Stockdale, including Newcastle United and Birmingham City . The contract was ultimately won by Fulham FC , with Stockdale signed a two-year contract. Immediately after his engagement, Fulham loaned him to the second division club Rotherham United . He made his debut for Rotherham in the league game against Bradford City . In his second game against Exeter City , he saved a penalty against Ben Watson . He made his debut for Fulham on September 13, 2009 in a 2-1 win against Everton . This season he was always used when the goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer was injured or otherwise prevented. By 2013, Stockdale was loaned out four times to other English clubs ( Leicester City , Plymouth Argyle , Ipswich Town and Hull City ). When Felix Magath was signed as the new coach in Fulham in February 2014, Stockdale was number one in goal in front of Maarten Stekelenburg . However , he could not prevent relegation from the Premier League this season .

Brighton & Hove Albion

In July 2014 Stockdale moved to the second division team Brighton & Hove Albion . He signed a three-year contract.
