Life

Debra Neil-Fisher grew up in the San Fernando Valley and attended the Argyll Academy girls' school until 1976 , where a film course was offered that sparked her early interest in film. So she decided to study film at the University of Southern California . After graduating in 1980, at the age of 21, she went back to her father and helped him in his dental office. And although many of his patients worked in the film business, no one could help her gain a foothold there. It was only through a few acquaintances that she was able to establish contact with a producer who offered her an assistant position in an editing studio. After she accepted, her first job was editing a Rich Little commercial for one of his Las Vegas shows. After a year she left the company because she noticed that she would only assist but not cut herself. So she tried her hand as an editor for independent films and initially had no luck, which is why she looked around at student films and edited many smaller student projects.

One of these films was the later Oscar- winning short, Ray's Male Heterosexual Dance Hall . It wasn't long before Neil-Fisher gained access to film, and thanks to the Avid skills she acquired during her time as an advertising editor, she was able to edit many projects relatively quickly. In the beginning it was mainly TV films that followed before she cut films such as Green Tomatoes , VI Warshawski - Detective in Silk Stockings and The Tree House . After working as an editor in a wide variety of genres, Fisher-Neil has been booked for major Hollywood comedies in particular since the two Austin Powers films Austin Powers - The Sharpest Thing Her Majesty has to offer and Austin Powers - Spy in a secret missionary position . B. Movies like How do I get rid of him - in 10 days? , Hangover and Hangover 2 .

Debra Neil-Fisher is a member of the American Cinema Editors .
