Career

Rudd joined Norwich City as a nine-year-old and went through the club's youth division. In 2008 he received his first professional contract and played a key role in the youth team's entry into the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup 2008/09. In the summer of 2009 he received a new three-year contract and made his competitive debut in Football League One on September 26, 2009 against Gillingham FC . At the end of the season, he had played seven league games and one game in the FA Cup when Norwich rose to the Football League Championship as third division champions . In the subsequent 2010/11 second division season Rudd was substitute goalkeeper behind John Ruddy . Rudd played three competitive appearances in the course of the season, one of them in the league, which Norwich sensationally finished in second place in the table and thus achieved the march into the Premier League .

After appearances in the English junior national teams of the age groups U-16, U-17 and U-20 Rudd took part in 2009 as a substitute goalkeeper behind Jason Steele at the U-19 European Championship 2009 in Ukraine. The English team only lost to the host's team in the final with 0: 2, Rudd was not used during the tournament. In the 2009/10 season he was the goalkeeper of the English U-19s and was also part of the squad at the 2010 U-19 European Championship in France. He stood between the posts in all four tournament games and reached the semi-finals with the team, in which Spain had to admit defeat.
