Patrick Bauer (born October 28, 1992 in Backnang ) is a German soccer player .
Career
In the club
In 2005, Bauer moved from TSG Backnang to VfB Stuttgart in 1919 . With the U-17 of VfB, he was German B-Junior Champion in the 2008/09 season .
Bauer made his professional debut as an A-youth on October 30, 2010 on the 14th matchday of the 2010/11 season for the second team from Stuttgart in the third division against SSV Jahn Regensburg . In May 2011, Bauer signed a professional contract with VfB Stuttgart dated until 2015. On July 29, 2011, he made his competitive debut for the Bundesliga team of VfB Stuttgart in the first round of the DFB Cup against SV Wehen Wiesbaden .
Patrick Bauer was awarded to the Portuguese first division club Marítimo Funchal on August 17, 2012 until the end of the 2012/13 season . On August 26, 2012 Bauer made his debut for the second team of Marítimo Funchal in the Segunda Liga against the second team of Vitória Guimarães . Six days later, Bauer scored his first goal in the second-highest Portuguese soccer division against the Sporting Lisbon B team . By the end of the 2012/13 season, he completed a total of 36 second division games for Marítimo B, scoring five goals.
After Bauer returned to Stuttgart in the summer of 2013 and had also completed the preparation with the Bundesliga team of VfB, he finally switched to Marítimo Funchal on July 25, 2013 and signed a three-year contract in Funchal.
For the 2015/16 season , the English second division Charlton Athletic signed him . With Charlton, he was relegated to EFL League One in 2016 . In the 2018/19 season he was promoted to the second division with the club. Bauer scored the decisive goal for the 2-1 win in stoppage time in the relegation final in front of 76,000 spectators at Wembley Stadium . Despite the promotion with Charlton, he switched to Preston North End, also playing in the second division, during the summer break of 2019 .
National team
Bauer has already played for several German youth national teams. On March 17, 2009 Patrick Bauer made his debut against Ukraine for the U-17 national team of Germany . With the German U-18 national team , he reached third place at the Milk Cup in July 2009. Bauer converted a penalty in the game for third place. On October 5, 2011, he played his first game for the German U-20s against Italy and scored one goal.
