Dee Wallace-Stone (* 14. December 1949 in Kansas City , Kansas as Deanna Bowers ) is an American actress .

biography

Dee Wallace, actually Deanna Bowers , was born in Kansas City to Maxine and Robert Stanley Bowers. After a difficult childhood, she graduated from high school before attending the University of Kansas . She began her acting career with smaller cinema roles and guest appearances in various television series such as The Streets of San Francisco , Hart but Warm , Starsky & Hutch and CHiPs . In 1977 she succeeded in getting a supporting role in Wes Craven's horror film Hill of Bloody Eyes .

She became known to a global audience in 1982 when she played the role of Elliott's single mother Mary in the Steven Spielberg film ET - The Extra Terrestrial . For this performance she was nominated for the Saturn Award in 1983 . During this time, other leading roles also fall in some well-known horror films : For example, she was in Joe Dante's werewolf film The Beast (1981), in the Stephen King film adaptation Cujo (1983) and in Stephen Herek's Critters - They Are! (1986) about enemy aliens. With her appearance in Peter Jackson's horror comedy The Frighteners , she targeted her status as a well-known actress of the horror genre in 1996. In the new millennium, she remained faithful to the horror genre and made some appearances in several films directed by Rob Zombie , including Halloween - remake of 2007 and 3 from Hell (2019).

Aside from the horror genre, Wallace-Stone played one of the leading roles in the family series The New Lassie, produced from 1989 to 1992 . She has also guest-starred on popular series such as Murder Is Her Hobby , Supernatural , Navy CIS , Bones , Criminal Minds, and Grey's Anatomy . However , she could not always build on the success of her horror films and ET , so she also made many second- and third-rate films. So far, Wallace has stood in front of the camera for around 250 film and television productions (as of 2020). In addition to her acting career, she has also published several books with primarily spiritual content.

In 2017 she was accepted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), which awards the Oscars every year. After two divorced marriages, Wallace was married to actor Christopher Stone from 1980 until he died of a heart attack in 1995. Their daughter is the actress Gabrielle Stone (* 1988). She has been married to Skip Belyea since 1998.
