NBA
Boston Celtics (2004-2007)
West was selected in the 24th place in the 2004 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics . Due to injuries, he was only able to play 39 games in his debut season and averaged only 4.5 points, 1.7 rebounds , and 1.6 assists. In the following season 2005/06 he was appointed to the starting five at the Boston Celtics and reached 11.8 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game. At the end of the season he was selected for the sophomore team of the NBA Rookie Challenge .
Seattle SuperSonics (2007)
During the 2007 NBA draft , West was given up, along with Jeff Green and Wally Szczerbiak , in exchange for Ray Allen and Glen Davis to the Seattle SuperSonics . After a short time with the Sonics, West was transferred to the Cleveland Cavaliers in February 2008 .
Cleveland Cavaliers (2008-2010)
In Cleveland, he scored 10.3 points, 4.5 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 26 games . He signed a new three-year contract for $ 12.7 million. In the following season 2008/09 he was used as a shooting guard for his team .
After the 2009/10 season West was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves , who released him a short time later without West playing a game for them.
Return to Boston (2010-2011)
In September 2010, West returned to Boston and signed a one-year contract there. He should take on the role of the backup of Rajon Rondo there . With the Celtics, however, he could not achieve the hoped-for goals and the team was eliminated in the 2nd round of the playoffs .
Dallas Mavericks (2011-2012)
West did not sign a new contract in Boston, but switched to the reigning champions, the Dallas Mavericks , where he received a one-year contract. In a game against the Portland Trail Blazers , he contracted an open fracture on his right ring finger and was out until the end of March. He was reinstated on March 29 against the Miami Heat .
After the season ended, West signed a new deal with the Mavs after Dallas couldn't sign another star. Before the start of the 2012/13 season , West was suspended twice in just 10 days and finally released on October 29.
Since 2012
In January 2013 West signed a contract with the Texas Legends from the NBA D-League to be able to recommend himself there for a renewed contract in the NBA. This project did not succeed. Instead, West played with the Fujian Sturgeons (2013-2014) and the Shanghai Sharks (2014) in China, before returning to the Texas Legends in 2015. There he ended his career.
