The Departamento Capital is located in the northwest of the Corrientes province in northeast Argentina and is one of 25 administrative units in the province.

In the north and west, separated by the Río Paraná , it borders on the province of Chaco , in the east on the departments of San Cosme and San Luis del Palmar and in the south on the department of Empedrado .

The capital of the Department Capital is the city of the same name Corrientes . Corrientes is connected to the neighboring province of Chaco by the Puente General Manuel Belgrano bridge. The distance between Corrientes and Buenos Aires is 1,060 kilometers.
