The Paso de los Libres department is located in the southeast of the Corrientes Province in northeast Argentina and is one of the province's 25 administrative units .

In the north it borders on the department of San Martín , in the west, separated by the Río Uruguay , on Brazil and in the east on the departments of Monte Caseros , Curuzú Cuatiá and Mercedes .

The capital of the Paso de los Libres department is the city of the same name, Paso de los Libres .
