The department of Monte Caseros is located in the southeast of the province of Corrientes in northeast Argentina and is one of 25 administrative units in the province.

In the northeast it borders on the Paso de los Libres department , in the northwest and west on the Curuzú Cuatiá department , in the southwest on the Entre Ríos province and in the southeast, separated by the Río Uruguay , on Uruguay .

The capital of the department of Monte Caseros is the city of the same name, Monte Caseros .
