The Departamento Independencia is located in the center of the province of Chaco in northwest Argentina and is one of 25 administrative units in the province.

It borders the Maipú Department in the north, the Comandante Fernández Department in the east, the O'Higgins Department in the south, the General Belgrano Department in the southwest and the Almirante Brown Department in the west .

The capital of the Department of Independencia is Campo Largo . It is 195 kilometers from the provincial capital Resistencia and 1,229 kilometers from Buenos Aires .
