The Tapenagá department is located in the south of the Chaco province in northwest Argentina and is one of 25 administrative units in the province.
It is bordered to the north by the departments of Veinticinco de Mayo , Presidencia de la Plaza and General Donovan , to the east by the departments of Libertad and San Fernando , to the south by the province of Santa Fe and to the west by the departments of Mayor Luis Jorge Fontana and San Lorenzo .
