The department of San Lorenzo is located in the center of the province of Chaco in northwestern Argentina and is one of 25 administrative units in the province.

It is bordered to the north by the Departamentos Comandante Fernández , Quitilipi and Veinticinco de Mayo , to the east by the Department of Tapenagá , to the south and west by the Department of Mayor Luis Jorge Fontana and to the west by the Department of O'Higgins .

The capital of the department of San Lorenzo is Villa Berthet .
