The Black Prince (Original title: The Dark Avenger ) is a British adventure film directed by Henry Levin from 1955.
action
In the 13th and 14th centuries, England and France waged a series of wars against each other for over a century, later known as the Hundred Years War . In 1359 the French lost a major battle at Aury in northern France. The army is crushed. Your King John signed an armistice while the English were captive. King Edward III returns to England and appoints his son, Prince Edward of Wales , known as the Black Prince, as Duke of Aquitaine, which is under English rule .
The French Count Robert de Ville is planning to liberate his country. He wants to win over the supreme general of France Bertrand du Guesclin for his cause, who in turn has great influence on the Dauphin , who ruled the country in the absence of the king. He also orders Prince Edward to be murdered. Since the assassination attempt fails, he kidnaps the widow Lady Joan Holland , the sister of the Count of Kent and her two brothers (actually, they are their sons), whereupon Prince Edward and his men set out to save them, but is defeated in the following battle. Not wanting to admit defeat, the prince devises a ruse. He disguises himself as a black knight, enters the service of the count and thus arrives at the prisoners, whom he can ultimately free.
The French, led by Bertrand du Guesclin and Robert de Villes, attack Prince Edwards' castle. Both sides suffer heavy losses, but the English gain the upper hand, which costs Bertrand du Guesclin's freedom and leads to the death of Robert de Villes.
