Devante James Parker (born March 16, 1996 in Wiesbaden ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

As a boy, Parker played for the district clubs from Bierstadt and Biebrich in his hometown Wiesbaden and in the summer of 2006 followed his brother Shawn to the youth training center of 1. FSV Mainz 05 . In the 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons he scored 19 goals in 43 appearances in the B-Junior Bundesliga . In addition, he already made nine appearances in the A-Junior Bundesliga in his second B-youth year , in which he scored three goals. For the 2013/14 season Parker moved up firmly in the A-youth squad . He scored eight goals in 23 missions. At the end of the season he also came to two appearances in the second team in the fourth-class Regionalliga Südwest , in which he scored a goal. In addition, Parker contributed a goal to the promotion of the second team in the promotion round to the third division . From 2011 to 2015 he also played 25 times for German youth national teams.

For the 2014/15 season Parker moved up to the professional squad. He made his debut in the Bundesliga under coach Kasper Hjulmand on August 31, 2014 , when he was substituted on in a goalless draw against Hannover 96 in the closing stages. With the professionals, there was no further Bundesliga assignment under Hjulmand and his successor Martin Schmidt . Instead, Parker came 29 times (two goals) in the Mainz second team in the 3rd division and twice (two goals) in the A-Jugend, for which he was last eligible to play this season. In the 2015/16 season he made a short Bundesliga appearance on matchday five under Martin Schmidt. He also played this season mainly in the second team in the 3rd division, in which he scored six goals in 35 games. Before the 2016/17 season , Parker extended his contract term to June 30, 2019, but was in the squad for the second team. In 20 third division games he scored one goal and was relegated with the team to the Regionalliga Südwest .

For the 2017/18 season , Parker moved to the Austrian Bundesliga club SKN St. Pölten on loan . He played seven league games until September 2017, then suffered a cruciate ligament rupture in training and has been out since then.

For the season 2018/19 returned to Mainz Parker back and stood in the squad of the second team. At the end of October 2018, he tore another cruciate ligament. By then he had played eight regional league games and scored three goals. In April 2019, his contract term, which ended at the end of the season, was extended by one year to June 30, 2020; However, due to injury, he was not used in any other competitive game. After the end of his contract, he ended his career as a professional footballer due to disability .
