Die Pastorin is a German drama by the director Josh Broecker from 2013. It shows the conflict in which a divorced pastor lives, who herself suffers mental hardship and at the same time is supposed to help others. In the film, Christine Neubauer embodies Franziska Kemper, a modern pastor of a Lübeck congregation.

action

A pastor driving a motorcycle in a more conservative community in Lübeck attracts attention, and older community members in particular are initially irritated by the appearance of the young pastor Franziska Kemper when she arrives in her motorcycle boots. But Franziska had already expected this when she accepted her work as pastor of the congregation. Nevertheless, she had decided to move from Bavaria to northern Germany in order to be closer with her two children to her ex-husband Christoph, who lives there and whom she cannot completely forget. Because, especially for them as clergymen, “eternal loyalty” and charity are high values.

However, Christoph's life is currently quite turbulent: The daughter of his new girlfriend Andrea has just become pregnant, but will probably not be able to carry the child to term because Andreas' mother urgently needs an organ donation. Since Andreas' daughter is a suitable organ donor, spiritual support is needed in Christoph's new relationship.

So it makes sense to ask the pastor for this assistance. At first, a little reluctantly, Franziska follows her spiritual calling.

Reviews

TV Spielfilm judges: "Sometimes taboo-breaking serious, but messed up by the convulsive and precise use of emotion-enhancing pop ballads and romantic transfigurations". The summary of the program magazine is: “If real pastoral care were so easy”.

Rainer Tittelbach is of the opinion that the production, despite the convincing cast and the "fast-paced staging", "[shows] dramaturgical weaknesses". The final words of the film critic is: " The pastor has more in it ...".
