Reviews

The lexicon of international films wrote: "The predominantly true-to-the-original film adaptation of the novel largely avoids the cheerful aspects of earlier adaptations and aims to accommodate today's tastes with the slight" mystery touch "of the story of Lady De Winter and fight scenes à la" Matrix "."

The website www.zelluloid.de praised the “elaborate” staging and the “top-class” cast.

On VideoWoche.de it was said: “A bit of getting used to TV two-part, which as an ingredient in addition to Alexandre Dumas' classic also has a good portion of black magic in the form of the possessed Mylady De Winter. Once this has been accepted, Emmanuelle Béart makes the evil intriguer quite acceptable. From the German side, Heino Ferch takes up his sword as Athos. "

The website www.cineastentreff.de wrote: “With his version of the“ Three Musketeers ”, director and co-author Pierre Aknine created a captivating work in 2004, which with the breathtaking landscape shots, the equipment and the contemporary costumes in exactly the right place Mood shifted. The atmosphere of the DVD does the rest: The pompous music usual in historical epics gives you goose bumps. The clanking swords during fights and the hooves of the trotting horses create an effective sound. The real-looking colors of the images as well as contrast and sharpness values achieve high TV quality. "
