Dieter Dressler (born March 27, 1932 in Dresden ; † February 12, 2011 in Bad Reichenhall ) was a German painter and graphic artist .

Short biography

Dressler spent his childhood in Dresden. In 1939 his father was transferred to Postelberg , so that Dressler attended school there until 1945. In 1945 Dressler moved back to Dresden and finished school there. In 1947 he began an apprenticeship as a decorative painter in Dresden, which he completed in 1950. From 1950 he studied at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts . In 1956 he graduated and joined the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR . He worked as a freelancer in the Schwarze Pumpe gas combine . From 1958 to 1959 Dressler was a master student at the German Academy of Arts in Berlin with Heinrich Ehmsen . From 1959 to 1972 Dressler worked freelance in Spremberg . In 1960 he signed a contract for work with the Black Pump Combine; Dressler married in 1961 and moved to Cottbus in 1972 . In 1986 Dressler was expatriated from the GDR and moved to Bavaria . Most recently he lived in Bayerisch Gmain . On February 12, 2011, he died in Bad Reichenhall after a long illness . Dressler was a member of the Federal Association of Visual Artists of the Federal Republic of Germany, the district association BBK Munich and Upper Bavaria, the New Saxon Art Association and the artist community Wasserburg am Inn . His works are part of important museums in Germany. Dressler is also known in this region through numerous exhibitions in Upper Bavaria. His fellow students included u. a. Strawalde and Gerhard Richter . Dieter Dressler is one of the most important representatives of "Realismo".
