Dirk Carlson (born April 1, 1998 in Portland ) is a Luxembourg national soccer player who has been playing for Karlsruher SC since July 2019 . He is the son of an American and a Luxembourger with Spanish roots.

Career

In the club

In his youth, Carlson went through all the youth teams of RFC Union Luxembourg . In the 2015/16 season he made his senior debut for the RFC Union before his 18th birthday. On February 21, 2016, he was substituted on in the league match against FC Differdange 03 . From 2016 to January 2018 he played for Union Titus Petingen in the Luxembourg top division, the BGL Ligue , and was a regular there. On February 2, 2018, he joined the U21s of the Swiss first division club Grasshopper Club Zurich , from where he did not make it into the first team. On July 1, 2019, he moved to the German second division promoted Karlsruher SC , where he signed a three-year contract. He made his debut straight away on matchday 1 against SV Wehen Wiesbaden (2-1) when he came on for Marc Lorenz in the 89th minute .

National team

After eleven games in youth teams , Carlson was used for the first time for the Luxembourg national team in the friendly against Latvia on September 2, 2016 . He was substituted at the 1: 3 in Riga , but has since played regularly for the team.
